Delay in Disability Claims Procedures

On July 19, 2017, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) updated their regulatory agenda to include a review of the final regulations affecting disability claims made on or after January 1, 2018 from disability plans. These final regulations change the procedural requirements to protect and safeguard claims for disability under both group health plans and retirement plans.

Due to the potential impact on these employer plans, the DOL is re-reviewing the policy and may possibly delay the start of the final regulations. Document Agility is closely watching this developing story and will keep you informed of any change in the effective date.

However, with the original effective date coming quickly, we will be providing the necessary amendments if no official DOL decision is made by the end of October. Please note that we will continue to monitor any progress and keep you apprised of any final decision that is made, even after the amendments are made available.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us.
