Delay in Disability Claims Procedures - Part 2

As we noted just a few days ago, the Department of Labor (DOL) is re-reviewing their final regulations affecting disability claims. These final regulations change the procedural requirements to protect and safeguard claims for disability under both group health plans and retirement plans.

Due to the potential impact on these employer plans, the DOL has now indicated a delay to the start of the final regulations to April 1, 2018. They have also issued a request for comments from the industry for possible revisions or amendments.

We will continue to closely watch this developing story and will keep you informed of any further changes. We will still provide the interim amendments to you in a timely manner if no official DOL decision is made by the end of October. We will also continue to monitor any progress and keep you apprised of any final decision that is made, even after the amendments are made available.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us.
